Stadium info from Derek Cardwell, September 2011: This stadium has a very interesting story. Built in 1938 as a WPA project it has been the home for the Knoxville Football team since. It was named after Ken Locke who tragically died during a game at the stadium in 1963. It is also currently on the National Register of Historic Places. Before Ken Locke Stadium the Panthers would play their home games at the nearby Knoxville Raceway infield. Currently the SOS Committee (Save Out Stadium) is refurbishing the stone seating and plans are to expand the current seating by about 500. This is one of the few high school stadiums that is below grown level. The main highway going through Knoxville passes right by the home side press box. It is truly a unique venue for high school football. Save Our Stadium!
